Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1578:
Description
The lot comprises a three-piece furniture ensemble, including a rectangular drop-leaf table and two armchairs, all constructed from a dark reddish-brown hardwood, likely mahogany or a similar species. The table features a plain top, drop leaves, and four tapering square legs. The two armchairs, while stylistically related, exhibit distinct back designs. One armchair features an elaborately pierced and carved splat, open arms, and cabriole legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet, consistent with a Chippendale or Georgian revival aesthetic. The other armchair presents a simpler, open back with multiple vertical carved splats and stands on straight square legs. Both chairs are fitted with upholstered seat cushions in a striped fabric pattern of red, gold, and dark burgundy or brown. No visible manufacturer’s marks or text are discernible.
