Description
A Federal style writing desk constructed from reddish-brown hardwood, featuring highly figured veneers, possibly burr wood or satinwood, arranged in chevron patterns across the top and five drawer fronts. The desk includes a central knee-hole area and a raised backrail with an inlaid or carved central oval medallion flanked by linear decoration and a brass disc element. The drawers are fitted with brass ring pulls. Accompanying the desk is a single side chair crafted from a dark reddish-brown hardwood, likely mahogany. The chair features a shaped, pierced splat backrest with intricate rococo or classical revival carved motifs, cabriole front legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet, and a drop-in seat upholstered in a striped fabric of red, gold, and burgundy. Both items exhibit a glossy finish. No visible text or manufacturer’s markings are present.
