Description
A New Haven gilt bronze figural mantel clock, featuring a classical female allegorical figure alongside a putto seated on a fluted column. The ensemble rests on an elaborate scrolling and rocaille base adorned with floral garlands and finials. The central circular white enamel or porcelain dial, bearing black Arabic numerals and a delicate floral border, is prominently marked « PLANCHON. » The clock’s ornate design includes a cresting element atop the dial, depicting a quiver and torch. The internal mechanism is visible through the opened rear door. A small paper tag, bearing the number « 19, » is tied to the female figure.
Condition report:
Generally good antique condition. The gilding is largely intact with minor wear consistent with age and handling. The internal mechanism is present but functionality has not been tested.
