Description
A Drexel flame mahogany serpentine front sideboard or credenza, executed in a Georgian or Federal style. This piece features a serpentine-fronted central section flanked by two rectangular cabinets. The top surface and drawer/cabinet fronts display a pronounced flame or swirl veneer pattern, consistent with mahogany, set within crossbanded borders. The central section contains four graduated, bowed drawers, while each end cabinet has a single flat-fronted drawer above a recessed panel door, all fitted with circular brass ring pulls.
Condition report:
The piece exhibits widespread wear and losses to the finish, particularly along the edges, feet, and top surface. There are surface scratches, scuffs, and areas of veneer loss consistent with considerable age and use. The overall condition is unrestored.
