Description
A Romweber Chippendale Flame Mahogany Sideboard Buffet, circa 1920s. This tripartite wooden side cabinet features a central bow-front section with three graduated drawers, flanked by two cupboard sections, each with a single door. The entire piece is elevated on carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet. Stylistic details include ornate carved backsplashes with rococo-inspired scrolls and shell motifs, rope-twist molding along the top edges, and fluted or foliate carved stiles on the side cabinets, with oval rope-twist applied moldings on the cupboard doors. The drawer pulls are brass swan-neck or bail handles. A white sticker marked « LOT 72 » is visible on the top surface of the right-hand cabinet.
Condition report:
Overall good condition, exhibiting a well-maintained, reflective finish with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No significant structural damage or repairs are immediately apparent.
