Description
An architectural engraving or print, rendered in ink and possibly light washes on paper, depicting an ‘ELEVATION OF THE PROPOSED BOOKCASE FOR THE LIBRARY, DESIGN A.’ The design showcases a classical or Neoclassical style bookcase with a pediment, central medallion, and decorative lower panels, accompanied by a ‘PLAN OF BOOKCASE’ and ‘Scale of Feet.’ Visible inscriptions include ‘LUTON HOO.’ at the top left, and in the bottom left, ‘Smirke.’ followed by ‘No. 12. 1849.’ The artwork is presented within a white mat and housed in a multi-profiled, gold-toned frame.
Condition report:
The drawing or print appears to be in good overall condition. The white mat is clean. The multi-profiled, gold-toned frame shows minor surface wear consistent with age and handling.
