Description
An Ansonia Cast Iron Rococo Revival mantel or shelf clock. The dark cast iron case is shaped and adorned with prominent gilt or brass Rococo Revival style mounts, displaying scrolling foliage and acanthus leaves on the crest, sides, and four scrolled feet. The clock face is a circular gilt metal dial with black Roman numerals, an outer minute track, and two simple hands, protected by a glass cover. The rear reveals the brass mechanical movement, visibly marked ‘ANSONIA CLOCK CO.’ ‘NEW YORK’ and ‘USA,’ confirming its American origin.
Condition report:
Good overall visual condition. Exhibits expected patina and minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No visible major damage or repairs. Functionality of movement not tested.
