Description
An English Hepplewhite Style flame mahogany serpentine sideboard, constructed from mahogany or a similar dark hardwood. The piece features a serpentine-front with prominent flame or figured veneers on its two central drawers and flanking cabinet doors. Each drawer and door is adorned with decorative brass hardware in the form of lion’s head ring pulls. The sideboard stands on four slender, tapered square legs, reflecting a Neoclassical or Federal style, consistent with late 18th or early 19th-century design, or a later revival.
Condition report:
The apparent condition is poor. There is extensive surface wear throughout, including significant scratches, scuffs, and widespread finish loss, particularly noticeable on the top surface and drawer fronts. One central drawer is noticeably ajar.
