Description
A framed landscape print or drawing, possibly a watercolor, depicting a pastoral scene with large trees, small figures, and what appear to be cattle. The artwork features a warm, sepia-toned palette and bears a handwritten inscription or signature, possibly ‘W. C. Copetes,’ in the lower center. It is presented behind glass within a cream-colored mat, which includes an inner decorative line. The piece is housed in an ornate frame, possibly giltwood or gesso, with classical reeding and foliate molding, consistent with a 19th or early 20th-century style. An auction sticker from ‘Pro Auction Limited’ for ‘LOT 270’ is affixed to the lower right corner of the frame.
Condition report:
The artwork appears to be in good overall condition. The frame shows minor wear consistent with age, including some light surface abrasions or minor losses to the gesso/gilt, but remains structurally sound. The mat is clean, and the artwork itself shows no obvious signs of tears, significant foxing, or major discoloration beyond its original sepia tone. Not examined out of frame.
