Description
An American Empire mahogany flip-top card table, dating from circa 1820-1840. The table features a dark polished hardwood construction with a folding top that opens to reveal an interior compartment, consistent with a card or games table. It is supported by a central rectangular pedestal, which transitions to an ornate scrolled base. The base is further adorned with four carved animalistic paw feet and additional carved scrollwork. Further carved scrollwork details are present on the apron of the table and at the base of the pedestal. A white rectangular label bearing « RICHARDSON’S » and « LOT: 399 » is affixed to the base.
Condition report:
The table exhibits visible surface wear, including scratches and scuffs to the tabletop and other surfaces, consistent with age and use. The overall structure appears stable. Minor abrasions and nicks are present throughout the carved elements.
