Description
A comprehensive collection of traditional revival style furnishings, believed to originate from a Parkland Deluxe Room at the Luton Hoo Hotel Golf and Spa. The ensemble is primarily executed in dark polished wood, possibly mahogany or walnut, consistent with late 19th or early 20th-century revival styles. The focal point is a large bed featuring an ornate carved wood headboard, surmounted by a fabric half-tester canopy with a floral pattern and tassel trim. The bed is fitted with a modern, tufted mattress on a divan base, bearing a label that reads « HAND MADE Natural Collection. » Flanking the bed are a pair of matching bedside tables, each supporting a brass-toned lamp. The seating area comprises a matching two-seater sofa and armchair, both upholstered in a reddish-burgundy velvet or velour, arranged around a rectangular dark wood coffee table with a glass top. Further furnishings include a traditional writing desk with a matching chair, a small square dining table accompanied by two matching chairs, and a multi-drawer chest of drawers upon which a « TOSHIBA » television is placed. Completing the decor are a framed mirror, an upholstered bench, and several framed artworks. The room features floral patterned curtains, a red fitted carpet, and striped wallpaper.
Condition report:
Overall well-maintained condition, consistent with use in a hotel environment. Minor wear and surface abrasions to the polished wood furniture commensurate with age and use. Upholstery on the sofa, armchair, and dining chairs shows minor compression and light wear. The mattress appears relatively new and in excellent condition. The television is present but untested for functionality. Curtains, carpet, and wallpaper exhibit minor signs of use.
