Description
A vintage Chad Valley GWR Interlocking Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle, comprising approximately 200 interlocking, three-ply wood pieces. The puzzle is presented in its original light blue-marbled paper-covered cardboard box. The lid features a prominent printed label detailing « About 200 PIECES INTERLOCKING – THREE PLY WOOD, » with the stylized text « JIG-SAW PUZZLE » and a « GWR » monogram. The label further states it was « PUBLISHED BY THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY CO. » and « MANUFACTURED BY THE CHAD VALLEY CO LTD. HARBORNE, ENGLAND. » Two heraldic crests with Latin mottos, « DOMINE DIRIGE NOS » and « INDUSTRIA ET INCREMENTUM, » are also incorporated into the label design. A small, affixed color print on the lid depicts a bustling harbor scene with fishing boats and figures, consistent with the imagery on the puzzle pieces visible inside the box.
