Description
A vintage Windsor Universal Meter, Model 88A, presented in a hinged, lacquered wooden carrying case with brass-toned metal hardware. The instrument is accompanied by red and black coiled test leads. The meter itself features a dark, likely bakelite or phenolic, front panel with an analog dial displaying scales for DC Volts & Amps, AC Volts & Amps, Ohms, and Decibels. Key visible markings include « WINDSOR UNIVERSAL METER MODEL 88A, » « 20,000 OHMS PER VOLT D.C., » « 2,000 OHMS PER VOLT A.C., » and « VIDOR VOQII DRY CELL » on a battery compartment cover. A serial number « 318320 » is located above the main dial. Multiple black plastic selector knobs are present for « ADJUST OHMS, » « RANGE » (with various voltage, current, and resistance settings), and function selection (DC V/mA, R, AC V/mA). Labeled input terminals include « COMMON, » « 10A.D.C., » « 5000V.D.C., » « OUTPUT, » and « TEST + ». The overall aesthetic is consistent with a mid-20th-century electronic testing instrument.
