Description
This traditional representational watercolour on paper depicts a large yellow-washed manor house, viewed through a screen of tall, slender tree trunks. One tree in the foreground is entwined with pink flowering climbing plants. The work is executed using transparent washes with visible graphite underdrawing, characteristic of the English school of the early 20th century. A signature and date are located in the lower right corner, applied in dark pigment, reading C.W.L. Dashwood. 1913. The painting is presented behind glass in a gilt-fronted wooden frame with a multi-lined cream mat.
