Description
A vintage automatic electronic battery charger manufactured by Varta (Great Britain) Ltd. of Crewkerne, Somerset. The unit is housed in a metal cabinet with a blue hammer-tone finish and is fitted with a black flexible top carrying handle. The front control panel includes an analogue charging current ammeter calibrated in milliamperes (mA) with a scale of 0 to 60. Functional controls consist of a Hours to Run timer dial graduated from 0 to 14 hours, a Current Selection toggle switch for 60mA or 600mA settings, and a Min/Max adjustment control knob. Power is operated via a mains toggle switch with an adjacent red indicator lamp and a screw-cap fuse holder for a 1A fuse. Output connections are provided by red (positive) and black (negative) binding posts. The rear panel features a voltage selector dial for 110V or 240V AC and a handwritten serial number AC2573. The device is fitted with a white MK brand three-pin fused UK mains plug. One red output lead with a spade terminal is currently attached to the unit.
