Description
A vintage cardboard jigsaw puzzle titled « SOUTH WALES THE MARCHES & THE WYE VALLEY, » presented in its original lidded box. The puzzle depicts an illustrated map of South Wales, featuring towns, geographical landmarks, and whimsical vignettes in a mid-20th century style. Visible text includes a Welsh Red Dragon emblem, place names such as Aberystwyth, Cardigan Bay, Swansea, and Cardiff. Poetic lines « Land of my fathers! Thou Eden of bards And birthplace of song, The sons of thy mountains Are stalwart & strong » are present, translating from a portion of the Welsh national anthem, « Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. » Other text includes a quote attributed to « WORDSWORTH » and the signature « M.F. Peck. » The puzzle pieces themselves appear to be largely present.
