Lot 519:
Description
A collection of Chinese export porcelain decorative items decorated in the Famille Rose style. The group includes baluster-form vases, globular lidded jars, and a lobed dish. The pieces are constructed of molded porcelain featuring overglaze polychrome enamel decoration. The motifs consist of large peony blossoms in shades of pink and orange, green foliage, songbirds, and butterflies. Geometric border patterns are present at the neck and base of the larger vessels, and gilded highlights are applied to the rims. A red overglaze mark is present on the base of one item, partially reading HAN AINTE, interpreted as HAND PAINTED. The style of enameling and the marking are indicative of mid-to-late 20th-century production for the export market.
Condition report:
The items are in good condition with minor surface wear to the enamels and loss to the gilding on the rims. Internal staining is present on the underside of one lid. A brown adhesive residue is visible on the foot rim of one piece. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible.
