Lot 498:
A Collection of Vintage Ladies Vanity Accessories Including a Stratton Powder Compact and a Chad Valley Money Box
Description
A collection of vintage ladies accessories and vanity items. The group includes a circular English brass-toned powder compact featuring a white lid decorated with a floral bouquet in pastel shades of pink and blue. The reverse side is finished with a textured woven pattern and bears an embossed rectangular mark reading Stratton over England. Internally, the compact contains a circular mirror and an empty powder well. Also included is a small rectangular coin purse constructed from textured reddish-brown leather with a metal frame and a multi-compartment bellows-style interior lined in dark red fabric. The collection features a miniature metal container designed in the form of a vintage folding camera, finished in black and red enamel with a wire handle and a small decorative key; the interior is lined in silver-toned metal. This item corresponds in design to tin-litho toy banks produced by Chad Valley. The smallest item is a gold-toned pill or trinket box with a textured bark finish on the exterior and a white-lined interior. The interior lid of the pill box contains a printed paper label with black text, though the specific manufacturer name is not legible from the provided images.
