Description
A Resolute Desk style console table, constructed from a dark reddish-brown wood, likely mahogany or walnut, featuring a central recessed glass panel set into its top. The table’s design reflects Neoclassical or Empire influences, evident in the inlaid or applied Greek key (meander) motif on the wooden border of the tabletop. The apron is further embellished with ornate, bronze-toned metallic appliqués depicting scrolling foliage and a central cartouche-like element. The four robust legs are distinctly adorned with figural mounts of winged, helmeted female busts, suggestive of caryatids, also rendered in a bronze-toned metal.
Condition report:
Good structural condition. Visible surface wear, including scratches and abrasions to the wooden surfaces and glass top, consistent with age and use. Finish wear noted throughout.
