Lot 1329:
Description
This lot comprises two framed prints, each presented in a matching ornate gilded wooden frame with a white mat. Both pieces are detailed reproductions of decorative arts designs.
The first print, attributed “Salvat d’après Moreau,” depicts two highly decorative armchairs with ornate, openwork backrests and red upholstered seats, rendered in muted greens, golds, and reds. The accompanying visible text identifies the subject as a “Fauteuil en bois sculpté et doré, 1780” (Carved and gilded wooden armchair, 1780).
The second print, attributed “Médaillier d’après Moreau,” illustrates a highly elaborate decorative plate or charger and a matching ewer or pitcher, both richly adorned with classical figural and scrolling motifs, rendered in monochrome. The visible text beneath states “Plat et Aiguière. Or et argent, 1800” (Plate and Ewer. Gold and silver, 1800).
Both prints bear the provenance “Formerly Sir Louis Mallet, K.C.M.G.”
