Description
An ornate decorative pedestal or stand, likely European from the Rococo Revival period. The central bronze shaft features an oval cartouche with a seated putto figure amidst scrolling foliage, topped by a stylized floral or foliate finial and flanked by scrolled handles. The square, tiered variegated purple and white marble base is adorned on each side with rocaille-style gilt bronze escutcheons and rests on four scrolled gilt bronze feet.
Condition report:
The bronze elements display an aged, dark patination, with the gilt portions showing brighter highlights. The marble appears to be in good, intact condition with no major visible chips or cracks. No discernible text or maker\'s marks are visible.
