Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 2051:
Description
A pair of elaborate window treatments, likely drapes, designed in an opulent, late 19th or early 20th-century revival style. The main fabric is a heavy, woven material, possibly silk brocade or damask, featuring a light peach/gold and cream/white floral or foliate pattern. The drapes are adorned with ornate fringe, tassels, and decorative rope tie-backs made of matching or complementary textile fibers. The style is consistent with grand interiors, such as those featuring extensive marble paneling and cast-iron radiators. No discernible text or markings are visible on the drapes.
Condition report:
Significant signs of age are apparent. The fabric exhibits fading, particularly along sun-exposed edges. A separate backing or interlining layer, visible from the reverse, is extensively degraded with large tears and holes.
