Description
A substantial late Victorian carved mirror back sideboard, crafted from dark-stained hardwood, likely mahogany or walnut. The piece features an elaborate superstructure with a prominent pediment and turned supports, framing a large central arched mirror flanked by two smaller rectangular mirrors. The base unit comprises a central open compartment with an apron drawer above, flanked by two larger drawers situated over carved cabinet doors. All drawers and doors are fitted with decorative brass or gilt metal hardware. The cabinet displays extensive foliate and scroll carving, characteristic of the period. No discernible manufacturer’s marks or text are present.
Condition report:
Good, stable condition consistent with age. Minor surface wear, scuffs, and abrasions commensurate with use. An even finish is present. No immediately visible significant damage or repairs.
