Description
This large, rectangular machine-made area rug features a classical or revivalist European decorative style with an intricate repeating pattern. The central field is dominated by scrolling acanthus leaves and floral motifs in gold, cream, and red against a pale blue-green ground, interspersed with larger oval medallions containing detailed rose bouquets and smaller diamond-shaped motifs. The carpet is framed by a multi-banded border comprising scrolling foliate designs and geometric patterns. The reverse side reveals a woven backing, characteristic of machine-made construction, likely with a wool or synthetic blend pile. Visible handwritten markings on the backing include “1002”, “2.90m”, “18′ 6.07”, and a partial “SR” mark, which appear to be inventory or dimension notations.
