Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 3:
Description
A 19th-century French Boulle style center table, featuring an ornate, curvilinear form displaying Rococo and Louis XV stylistic influences. The undulating, serpentine top surface is covered in red leather or faux leather with gold tooling. The frieze and elegant cabriole legs are profusely adorned with gilded bronze (ormolu) mounts, including prominent female mascarons at the top of the legs and a central cartouche bearing a crest or coat of arms. The wooden structure appears dark-stained or ebonized, complemented by painted or inlaid details on the frieze, characteristic of the Boulle style.
Condition report:
Fair to good antique condition. Consistent surface wear and scuffs to the leather top. Minor losses to the gilt and patina commensurate with age on the ormolu mounts. The wooden structure shows expected signs of age and use.
