Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 381:
Description
An antique English chest of drawers, crafted in the late 18th to early 19th-century Hepplewhite/Regency style. The bowed-front form is constructed from a dark hardwood, likely mahogany, and extensively veneered with a prominent burrwood, possibly burr walnut or elm, on the top and all five graduated drawer fronts. The piece features a serpentine front, splayed bracket feet, and is fitted with oval brass drop handles with escutcheon plates on each drawer.
Condition report:
The chest displays a rich patina and appears to be in good antique condition, with minor surface wear, scuffs, and imperfections consistent with age and use. Veneer appears stable with some minor lifting or cracking possible, but not overtly visible as significant damage. Handles appear original or period appropriate.
