Description
A 19th Century Chinese Chippendale Style Mahogany Bookcase. This elaborate two-part dark wood bookcase comprises an upper section with two glazed doors and a lower section with two solid panel doors. The upper doors are distinguished by gothic-arched tracery over the glass and are crowned by a broken pediment featuring pierced fretwork. The lower doors are richly carved with scrolling botanical and architectural motifs. Constructed from mahogany, the piece exhibits a rich, aged patina.
Condition report:
Overall stable condition, consistent with age and use. Minor surface wear and abrasions commensurate with an antique. A white label affixed to the lower right glass panel states \'Pre Auction LOT 553\'.
