Description
A group of vintage Chinese cultural objects and miscellaneous miniatures. The collection includes an assortment of Chinese dolls featuring painted composition or paper-mâché heads and hands with flexible cloth-covered wire or stuffed bodies. The dolls are dressed in original silk and satin traditional attire, including robes and trousers decorated with embroidered and printed floral motifs. Some figures feature applied silk thread queues. The lot includes a pierced and carved wooden folding fan with a pink silk tassel, housed in a decorative two-part cardboard box. The box lid features a yellow paper label identifying the maker as the Wang Xing Ji company of Hangzhou, China. Also included is a collection of approximately 18 miscellaneous coins, comprising traditional Chinese cash coins with square central apertures and various 20th-century international coins including a United Kingdom penny and a United States dime. Small decorative items include a circular woven basket with a matching lid, a cream-coloured silk drawstring pouch within a cylindrical gold-toned textured carrier, and a small cubic cardboard container for Palmers Mentholated ointment.
