Lot 619:
A Trio of Folding Hand Fans
Description
A collection of three folding hand fans of varying designs and materials. The largest is a fabric folding fan featuring a cream-coloured leaf printed with a multi-coloured floral spray of purple, pink, and blue flowers. The leaf is finished with a white lace border. The fan is constructed with cream-coloured moulded plastic guards and pierced openwork sticks, featuring embossed scrollwork decoration. A gold-tone metal bail is attached to the pivot point.
The second item is a souvenir folding fan with a paper leaf and wooden sticks. The leaf depicts a scene with a figure in traditional Spanish attire, possibly a flamenco dancer, set against a bullfighting arena. The colour palette transitions across the leaf from yellow to blue.
The third item is a concertina-style butterfly fan. It features a vibrant, multi-coloured butterfly wing pattern on a paper leaf. The blue plastic handle/casing is printed with small white text. One side of the handle bears the text MADE IN CHINA and the other side is printed RINCO 92730.
