Lot 629:
A Trio of Decorative Elephant Figurines Including Leonardo and Novelty Teapot
Description
A trio of elephant-themed cabinet ornaments in diverse materials and styles. The collection includes a naturalistic sculptural figure of an African elephant standing on a grassy base, depicted in the act of spraying water onto its back. This piece is cast in resin with a textured, painted finish mimicking hide, featuring a translucent material to represent water spray. A signature is impressed into the upper surface of the green base, reading © Leonardo. Also included is a stylized, trumpeting elephant with its trunk raised, cast or carved from a material mimicking marbleized alabaster or soapstone with variegated cream and orange-brown tones. The third item is a novelty teapot in the form of a seated elephant, rendered in glazed ceramic with a high-gloss black finish; the trunk serves as the spout and the tail as the handle.
