Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 253:
Description
An elaborate set of window drapes and associated decorative elements, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, presented within a grand classical or classical revival architectural setting. The drapes are fashioned from a heavy textile, possibly silk damask or brocade, featuring a muted rose/taupe/gold palette with a distinct woven floral or foliate pattern. The treatment includes a shaped valance with multiple swags and jabots, all richly adorned with matching fringe and tassels. Large, braided cord tie-backs with decorative tassels are used to hold the drapes open.
Condition report:
The textiles are in good apparent condition, exhibiting minor creasing consistent with age but no obvious significant tears, fading, or heavy staining. All fringe and tassels appear intact.
