Description
A dedicated electronic game console manufactured in the United Kingdom by Videomaster Ltd. circa 1979. The unit is constructed from dark grey plastic with a clear plastic protective overlay covering the control interface. The central control panel features printed text reading STAR CHESS in white within a blue rounded rectangular border, and VIDEOMASTER STAR CHESS printed in white above a recessed slot. The interface includes two identical player stations, each equipped with a four-way directional pad and six function buttons. The buttons are printed with orange ACTIVATE, green CLEAR, and blue REPORT, WARP, MOVE, and FIRE. A central speaker grille is positioned above sliding toggle switches marked SOUND and POWER with ON and OFF positions, a circular orange button marked RESET, and a recessed area labelled COMMAND MANUAL.
The lot includes two AC power adapters. One is a black plastic unit with the word VIDEOMASTER embossed in a rectangular frame. The second is a generic adapter with a silver label reading ADAPTOR and 300mA. The cables terminate in a UK three-pin plug. This console was designed for connection to a television set via an RF lead, which is not present. The original box, instructions, and command manual card are also absent.
