Description
A WW2 RAF Type 06A Hand Bearing Compass by Henry Browne & Son Sestrel. The compass unit is constructed of dark grey-painted metal with a glass face, featuring a sighting mechanism with knurled adjusters. Visible markings on the bezel include „TYPE 06.“, „AFT“, „No 16287 D.“, „6A/0473“, and a prominent „AM“ symbol beneath a crown, indicative of British Air Ministry provenance. The compass is housed within a fitted, painted wooden case with a visible canvas strap. A separate grey metal component with a wooden handle, likely a sighting scope or control, is stored within a dedicated cutout in the case. The interior of the wooden case features custom-cut wooden inserts and degraded padding, with a repurposed „DELICIOUS… CARAMEL / Airdrie Scotland“ cardboard liner used as internal packing material.
