Description
A framed print, likely a reproduction, depicting an ornate „Nautilus Cup“ rendered in fine line work and light wash. The print’s visible text identifies the depicted object as „A German silver-gilt and shell Nautilus cup formed as an African warrior holding aloft Neptune’s chariot, c. 1660,“ and notes its provenance as „Purchased by Sir Julius Wernher and previously at Luton Hoo, now with English Heritage at Ranger’s House, Blackheath.“ The print is housed under glass within a gold-toned, likely gilded, decorative wooden frame with a white mat.
