Description
A framed print, likely a reproduction, depicting an ornate « Nautilus Cup » rendered in fine line work and light wash. The print’s visible text identifies the depicted object as « A German silver-gilt and shell Nautilus cup formed as an African warrior holding aloft Neptune’s chariot, c. 1660, » and notes its provenance as « Purchased by Sir Julius Wernher and previously at Luton Hoo, now with English Heritage at Ranger’s House, Blackheath. » The print is housed under glass within a gold-toned, likely gilded, decorative wooden frame with a white mat.
