Description
An Italian Brevettato five-light candelabra, constructed from gilt bronze and dark polished marble. The design features a fluted and decorative stepped base with scrolling feet, supporting a square marble plinth. From this rises an urn-shaped marble body, adorned with a gilt garland and flanked by two winged putti figures serving as handles. Five scrolling gilt bronze arms extend from the top of the urn, each terminating in a fluted candle cup and bobêche, currently fitted with white taper candles. The overall style exhibits Neoclassical or Empire influence, with intricate foliate and classical motifs throughout the gilt bronze elements.
Condition report:
The candelabra is in good condition, exhibiting a consistent patina commensurate with age. No significant damage, repairs, or restorations are readily visible. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
