Description
A substantial and ornate Louis XV style fireplace ensemble, featuring a variegated green and white marble mantelpiece with a carved frieze and fluted pilasters. The fireplace opening contains a decorative cast iron fireback and is fronted by a dark metal mesh fireplace screen. To the left stands a set of black wrought iron fireplace tools on a twisted-handle stand, while a polished dark wood coal scuttle or urn with a metal liner and brass lion’s head escutcheons sits to the right. A polished brass fender, bearing a small tag marked „CD,“ completes the arrangement.
Condition report:
The marble mantelpiece exhibits visible cracks and surface wear consistent with age. The cast iron fireback, wrought iron tools, and metal mesh screen show patination and minor surface abrasions consistent with historical use. The polished dark wood coal scuttle shows minor surface wear. The brass fender is polished with minor surface scratches; a small tag marked \'CD\' is present. All components are in a condition consistent with historical use and display.
