Description
This patinated bronze figural sculpture, attributed to Auguste Moreau (French, 1826-1897), depicts a standing female figure in an animated pose characteristic of academic or classical revival styles. Likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, the figure is dressed in flowing drapery and holds a torch-like object aloft with her raised right arm. She balances on a naturalistic base that transitions to a circular plinth. The bronze exhibits a deep, even brown patina.
