Description
A French military bayonet, identified as the Model 1886/15 pattern for use with the Lebel rifle. The weapon features a long, slender, four-sided cruciform steel blade designed primarily for thrusting. The hilt is constructed with a steel crossguard featuring an integrated muzzle ring and a characteristic hooked quillon. The grip is formed by two wooden scales secured to the tang by rivets, a modification introduced during the First World War to replace earlier nickel-silver or brass grips. The steel pommel includes a longitudinal slot and a spring-loaded button mechanism for attachment to a rifle. No maker stamps or marks are discernible due to heavy surface oxidation.
