Description
A vintage Everitt’s Patent Press trouser press, retailed by Hepworths’, «The World’s Premier Clothiers.» The press is comprised of two primary wooden boards; the larger, lighter-toned board features two hinged, threaded metal rods with butterfly-nut style clamps. The smaller, darker-stained wooden board attaches to these via two polished metal uprights, also secured with similar adjustable clamps. A paper label on the larger board provides operating instructions, stating «EVERITT’S, » «REVERSE THIS BOARD AND PLACE TROUSERS ON THE OTHER SIDE, » and advises on pressure and a «STRETCHER ATTACHMENT.» A separate white plaque on the darker wood identifies it as «EVERITT’S PATENT PRESS, » «HEPWORTHS’, » and «THE WORLD’S PREMIER CLOTHIERS.» This functional item is consistent with an early to mid-20th century period.
