Description
A framed sepia-toned or monochrome photographic portrait, possibly a photogravure or platinum print, depicting a distinguished gentleman in a flat cap, tweed jacket, waistcoat, and tie, holding a pipe. The style is indicative of the late 19th or early 20th century. The print is housed within a broad, off-white mat featuring a fine-lined decorative border with corner flourishes and geometric patterns. Visible markings on the mat include « Langfier, Ltd » on the lower left, « 23. Old Bond St. London. W. » on the lower right, and « Copyright » accompanied by the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom and « By Royal Warrant » centrally below the image, identifying the photographer and studio location. Condition report:
The apparent condition is good. Some glare on the protective glass obstructs a full assessment of the print. Minor superficial wear is visible on the frame.
