Description
A framed sepia-toned or monochrome photographic portrait, possibly a photogravure or platinum print, depicting a distinguished gentleman in a flat cap, tweed jacket, waistcoat, and tie, holding a pipe. The style is indicative of the late 19th or early 20th century. The print is housed within a broad, off-white mat featuring a fine-lined decorative border with corner flourishes and geometric patterns. Visible markings on the mat include “Langfier, Ltd” on the lower left, “23. Old Bond St. London. W.” on the lower right, and “Copyright” accompanied by the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom and “By Royal Warrant” centrally below the image, identifying the photographer and studio location. Condition report:
The apparent condition is good. Some glare on the protective glass obstructs a full assessment of the print. Minor superficial wear is visible on the frame.
