Description
A French Louis XV Style Marble Top Bronze Mounted Marquetry Commode. This bombe-shaped commode features a serpentine front and sides with cabriole legs. It is constructed from veneered wood, displaying parquetry in a herringbone or chevron pattern on the side panels and drawer fronts, accented by lighter wood banding. The piece is adorned with elaborate bronze or ormolu mounts on the corners, feet, and as decorative escutcheons and drawer pulls for its three full-width drawers. A variegated, light-colored marble slab serves as the top. « PRE-AUCTION » and « LOT #43 » stickers are adhered to the marble top.
Condition report:
Good overall condition, commensurate with age and use. The marble top exhibits surface cracking consistent with age. All primary components and ornamentation appear intact. Minor surface wear and abrasions to the veneer may be present.
