Lot 172:
A Collection of Early LEGO System i Leg HO Scale Plastic Model Vehicles
Description
A collection of six vintage 1:87 (HO) scale plastic model vehicles, produced during the early LEGO System i Leg era. The group includes three heavy goods vehicles and three passenger cars, all constructed with cellulose acetate plastic bodies and metal wheels on metal axles. The collection features licensed real-world vehicle models. The passenger cars are built with die-cast metal baseplates. The first is a white saloon car with a metal base impressed with Pat. LEGO pend. and CITROEN DS 19. The second is a red coupe with a metal base embossed with KARMANN and Ghia in a rectangular border, alongside LEGO and Pat. pend. The third car is a red saloon with a metal base reading OPEL 58 REKORD and Pat. LEGO pend. The heavy vehicles include a yellow and blue semi-trailer unit with LEGO in a stylized script inside a rectangular border on the red plastic chassis. Also present is a yellow tractor unit, featuring a red plastic chassis embossed with MERCEDES and LEGO oriented vertically. The collection is completed by a red Bedford tractor unit with a red plastic chassis embossed with the stylized LEGO wordmark in a rectangle. The truck units feature detachable trailers or chassis components. These very hard to find early models represent the pre-brick era of the manufacturer’s history.
