Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1064:
Description
Two framed, hand-colored topographical engravings, likely dating to the late 17th or early 18th century. The first print, titled „Windsor le Chateau“ (Windsor the Castle) and „Castle at Windsor,“ depicts an aerial perspective of Windsor Castle and the River Thames, featuring the signature „L. Knyff Del.“ (L. Knyff Delineavit) in the lower left and a Royal Coat of Arms below the image. The second print, clearly labeled „HAMPTONCOURT,“ similarly presents an aerial view of Hampton Court Palace and its expansive formal gardens. Both engravings are executed on paper, exhibiting a detailed, illustrative style with applied color, and are presented behind glass within wide, ornate gilded wooden frames and cream-colored mats.
