Lot 1064:
Description
Two framed, hand-colored topographical engravings, likely dating to the late 17th or early 18th century. The first print, titled « Windsor le Chateau » (Windsor the Castle) and « Castle at Windsor, » depicts an aerial perspective of Windsor Castle and the River Thames, featuring the signature « L. Knyff Del. » (L. Knyff Delineavit) in the lower left and a Royal Coat of Arms below the image. The second print, clearly labeled « HAMPTONCOURT, » similarly presents an aerial view of Hampton Court Palace and its expansive formal gardens. Both engravings are executed on paper, exhibiting a detailed, illustrative style with applied color, and are presented behind glass within wide, ornate gilded wooden frames and cream-colored mats.
