Description
An antique miners safety lamp constructed from a combination of brass and steel. The design features a cylindrical steel bonnet above a glass chimney, which is encased in a protective brass cage with four pillars. The lamp is topped with a metal plate and a large circular ring for suspension or carrying. A small identification plate is riveted to the top of the bonnet; however, the stamped information is worn and no longer legible. This example follows the standard design patterns produced by notable British manufacturers such as The Protector Lamp and Lighting Co. Ltd and The Wolf Safety Lamp Co. Ltd.
