A British War Medal 1914-1918. This circular, silver-colored metal military service medal is suspended from a folded, multi-striped textile ribbon featuring a central orange/gold section flanked by alternating white, black, and blue stripes. The obverse depicts a classical-style figure on horseback holding a sword, with the dates «1914» and «1918» inscribed to either side. The reverse features a left-facing bust of King George V, encircled by the Latin inscription «GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP» (George V, King of all Britons and Emperor of India). The edge of the medal is engraved with «12234 SJT. G. H. VAUGHAN. M.G.C.».
