Description
This lot features one Newfoundland 1941 Five Cents coin, depicting King George VI. The obverse features the denomination « 5 CENTS » above the date « 1941 » within an ornate scroll, encircled by the legend « NEWFOUNDLAND » along the upper rim, all within a beaded border. The reverse presents a left-facing, crowned bust of King George VI, encircled by the Latin inscription « GEORGIVS VI DEI GRA REX ET IND IMP, » which translates to « George VI, by the Grace of God, King and Emperor of India. » The coin has a reeded rim. Based on similar issues of the period, this coin is composed of 80% silver. No mint marks, signatures, or serial numbers are visible.
