Lot 512:
Description
This lot presents a collection of philatelic material primarily from the Solomon Islands, dating from the early 1980s. The collection includes a large, folded map of the Solomon Islands, which features numerous affixed postage stamps. Also present is a quantity of loose stamps, some arranged in blocks. The lot contains several “OFFICIAL FIRST DAY COVER” envelopes, explicitly marked “SOLOMON ISLANDS POSTAL HISTORY” and bearing a postmark of “1 NOVEMBER 1983” from “P.O. KIRA KIRA.” Further stamps are housed within a black plastic stamp stockbook page. The collection is rounded out by various other envelopes and postcards, some of which are addressed, for example, to “Anne Hudson, 9 Cote Farm Lane, Thackley, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD10 8WD, England.” The stamps depict a diverse range of subjects, including local fauna, flora, landscapes, cultural scenes, and historical figures, with visible denominations. All visible text is in English, confirming the origin as the Solomon Islands.
